Not Need-based

Graduate students who meet one of the following conditions: 1) studying pedology or soil mineralogy in the department, or 2) pursuing MS or Ph.D. degrees with a course of study leading to a thesis or dissertation that will emanate in whole or part from scientific investigation of Florida soils; preference to students with academic excellence and leadership ability as indicated by departmental service and extra-curricular activities (e.g. participation in student club activities, soil judging, and department social activities); selected by the Soil and Water Science Award/Scholarship Committee on the basis of merit and to the extent possible without consideration of other awards or stipends a recipient has received.
