Torres Scholarship Award is designed to assist students who have overcome a medical hardship in pursuit of higher education. Scholarships are available on a competitive basis to:<br \/>\n\u2022Graduating High School Seniors<br \/>\n\u2022Community College Students<br \/>\n\u2022Community College Transfer Students<br \/>\n\u2022Undergraduate Students<br \/>\n\u2022Graduate Students<\/p>\n<p>Award amounts generally range from $500 to $1,000<\/p>\n<p>Eligibility Requirements<br \/>\n\u2022Scholarships awarded to individual(s) with a documented illness\/disability<br \/>\n\u2022Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident with a permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 (not expired)<br \/>\n\u2022Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale<br \/>\n\u2022Have plans to enroll FULL-TIME in a degree seeking program at a two or four year U.S. accredited institution in the U.S., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands or Guam during the 2014-2015 academic year<br \/>\n\u2022Must apply for federal financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)<br \/>\n\u2022Be pursuing first undergraduate or graduate degree<\/p>\n<p>More information can be found at:<br \/>\nhttp:\/\/www.luisetorresscholarshipfund.org\/Scholarship.html<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Luis E.
