UF Endowed Scholarships and Fellowships
The following endowed scholarships and fellowships are administered by the UF Foundation. For information, check with the departmental contact person or the Foundation Web site.
- Alumni Scholarships
Eligibility: students in the college.
Value: one award, $850&ndash$950 - Buddy Baker Memorial Scholarships
Eligibility: journalism majors who plan to pursue a career in arts and entertainment reporting or editing.
Value: one award, $1,400 - Red Barber Radio Scholarship
Eligibility: telecommunication juniors and seniors; preference to applicants planning a career in sports broadcasting; financial need considered.
Value: $400 - Peter and Nancy Barr Trust Scholarship
Eligibility: juniors and seniors planning to enter the field of advertising; applicants must have documented financial need, must have taken at least one credit hour of business ethics, and must document their community service.

Eligibility: advertising majors.
Value: $1,400 - Russell Brines Scholarship in International or Political Reporting
Eligibility: journalism majors showing interest in reporting in areas of international politics, foreign affairs, or national politics; demonstrated financial need.

Eligibility: telecommunication seniors; scholarship, involvement in public radio and television, concern for ethics and responsibility.

Eligibility: newspaper reporting or editing seniors; character, scholarship, and promise to the profession; financial need is a lesser criterion.

Eligibility: juniors and seniors planning careers in environmental communications; evidence of involvement in environmental protection through organizational activity, writing, or broadcasting; demonstrated financial need.

Assistantships
- Karl and Madira Bickel Assistantships
Recipients work ten hours a week in the college.
Eligibility: maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Value: $2,100, twelve awards - Herbert S. Dolgoff Radio Assistantships
Recipients must work at WRUF-AM/FM or WUFT-FM.
Eligibility: telecommunication juniors and seniors; intent to pursue careers in radio management, programming, or news.
Value: $3,000, five awards - Red Newton Freedom of Information Assistantships
Requires ten hours of work a week in the Brechner Center for Freedom of Information.
Eligibility: junior or senior in any major in the college; completion of MMC 4200 with a 3.0 or be willing to take it the next semester.

Memory of Rod Pierce
Requires working 10-20 hours a week as teaching or research assistant.
