UF Endowed Scholarships and Fellowships
The following endowed scholarships and fellowships are administered by the UF Foundation. For information, check with the departmental contact person or the Foundation Web site.
- Angelo Podes Scholarship Fund
Eligibility: students enrolling in Modern Greek and/or a six-week study abroad program with College Year in Athens; preference to students of Greek-American ancestry.
Value: $1,000
Non-Endowed Scholarships
- Emmanuel Bilirakis Pre-Medical Scholarship
Eligibility: pre-med students also doing work in Greek studies, 3.5 GPA, and resume.
Value: $1,000, awarded April - Center for Greek Studies Summer Study Abroad Scholarship
To assist a student to attend the Greek six-week Summer Study Program.
Value: $1,000, awarded in April - Michael G. Cantonis Medal for Excellence in Greek Studies
Eligibility: seniors.
Value: $500 - Nicholas Cassas Scholarships
Eligibility: one award for entering students with at least 3.0 GPA who enrolls in beginning Modern Greek; one for students with at least B+ average in beginning Modern Greek who enroll in intermediate Modern Greek.
Value: $1,000, two scholarships - Pete G. and Anna Felos Scholarship in Greek Studies
Eligibility: for summer study in Greece at CYA or other approved program.
Value: $1,200 - Angelo Langadas Scholarship
Eligibility: high GPA, resume, involvement in Greek studies.
Value: $1,000 - Maria Marees Memorial Women’s Leadership Scholarship
Eligibility: undergraduate women who demonstrate leadership ability.
Value: $400 - Basilios Michopoulos Scholarship
Eligibility: Greek studies students enrolled or planning to enroll in a Greek language; minimum 3.0 GPA.
Value: $500 per year, awarded in April - Perry Scholarship in Greek Language
Eligibility: students pursuing ancient or modern Greek language.
Value: $2,000 - Perry Scholarship in Hellenic Civilization
Eligibility: students taking (a) course(s) in Greek culture.
Value: $1,500 - Perry Scholarship for Study in Greece
Eligibility: for summer study in Greece with a recognized academic program, either College Year in Athens or American School of Classical Study in Athens.
Value: $2,000 - Eta Sigma Phi Scholarship
Eligibility: junior classics majors; at least a 3.6 GPA; active in Eta Sigma Phi.
Value: $500, up to two, awarded April - Charles and Elsie Voelker Scholarship
