For all College of Education scholarships, the application forms and instructions are available at the Office of Student Services Web page above. All applications and associated materials (essay, letters of recommendation, resume/vita, etc.) are due to the Office of Student Services by 5:00 p.m. on February 13, 2009. Scholarships are available Fall 2009 unless otherwise noted.
UF Endowed Scholarships and Fellowships
The following endowed scholarships and fellowships are administered by the UF Foundation. For information, check with the departmental contact person or the Foundation Web site.
- John F. and Marjorie J. Alexander
Scholarship
Eligibility: first generation undergraduate and graduate college students seeking a degree in the College of Education, based on financial need; students applying after freshman year must have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA to receive the award.
Value: $500 - Dr. Frank C. Bolser Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility: full-time students preparing to teach mathematics at the middle or secondary level.
Value: $500 - Vernice Law Hearn Scholarship
Eligibility: full-time ProTeach juniors, seniors, or graduate students in unified early childhood, elementary, or special education.
Value: $750 - Charles A. and Alma A. Hoffman Scholarship
Eligibility: full-time students preparing to teach mathematics; must demonstrate financial need.
Value: $1,000 - Everett L. Holden and Marian G.
Holden Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility: COE students of high scholastic standing with financial need.
Value: three $1,000 awards for undergraduates, four $500 for graduate students - Lancaster Scholarship
Eligibility: COE undergraduates admitted to a professional teacher education program.
Value: $500 - William T. Phelps Scholarship Fund
Eligibility: full-time ProTeach undergraduate students in elementary or early childhood education.
Value: four $3,000 awards - J. W. Martin and A. M. Martin Phillips Scholarship Fund
Eligibility: full-time students pursuing a degree in education at UF; first preference to students who attended high school in Alachua county (submit copy of diploma or official high school transcripts); must demonstrate financial need.
Value: two $2,500 undergraduate and five $3,000 graduate awards - Dr. Vincent McGuire Scholarship
Eligibility: First preference given to undergraduate students majoring in English with a minor in Secondary Education; second preference given to graduate students in the English education program in the College of Education
Value: $500 - Ralph D. Turlington Scholarship and
Fellowship Fund
Eligibility: full-time undergraduate and graduate students in the college.
Value: $2,500, two awards
Non-Endowed Scholarships
- Denton Cook Scholarship
Eligibility: COE undergraduate and graduate students in Teacher Education Programs; graduates of the public high schools of Plant City, Mt. Dora, and Clermont receive scholarship preference.
Value: $1,000, two awards - Karen Koegel Annual Scholarship
