Eligibility: students working explicitly on modern or contemporary Europe for funds to assist in traveling to Europe to present a conference paper, support intensive language training in a qualifying lesser- or least-taught European language, or help research programs related to the doctoral dissertation.

Eligibility: graduate students pursuing degrees in any discipline with a concentration in European area studies; must enroll in European language study. Eligible languages are French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Greek, Russian, Czech, Polish; must be accepted to their disciplinary department before being considered.

Value: $15,000 plus tuition/fees; four to seven awards - U.S. Department of Education Title VI Summer Foreign Intensive Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS)Fellowship
