For all College of Education scholarships, the application forms and instructions are available at the Office of Student Services Web page above. All applications and associated materials (essay, letters of recommendation, resume/vita, etc.) are due to the Office of Student Services by 5:00 p.m. on February 15, 2008. Scholarships are available in the fall unless otherwise noted.
UF Endowed Scholarships and Fellowships
The following endowed scholarships and fellowships are administered by the UF Foundation. For information, check with the departmental contact person or the Foundation Web site.
- Dr. Frank C. Bolser Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility: full-time students preparing to teach mathematics at the secondary level.
Value: $1,000 - Glenda Ward Caro Fellowship in Education
Eligibility: graduate students in education.
Value: $750 - Albert G. Hall Fellowship Fund
Eligibility: graduate students admitted to or enrolled full time in the college's early childhood or elementary education graduate professional teacher education program.
Value: $1000 - Lincoln and Lillian Hall in Memory of Albert G. Hall Fellowship Fund.
Eligibility: graduate students in the college.
Value: $1000 - Dr. Clemons Lester Hallman Fellowship
Eligibility: graduate students in the college preparing for teaching or teacher education in one of three areas: 1) bilingual education, 2) foreign language education, or 3) ESOL education.
Value: $500 - Thomas and Anita Harrow Scholarship Fund
Eligibility: graduate students preparing for careers in K-12 administration and community college leadership; must have a minimum 3.4 GPA and be enrolled in a master's or doctoral program.
Value: $500 - Vernice Law Hearn Scholarship
Eligibility: full-time PROTEACH juniors, seniors, or graduate students in early childhood, elementary, or special education.
Value: $750 - Charles A. and Alma A. Hoffman Scholarship
Eligibility: full-time students with financial need who plan to teach mathematics.
Value: $1000 - Everett L. Holden and Marian G. Holden Memorial Scholarship Fund
Eligibility: students in the college; must demonstrate financial need.
Value: two $2,000 awards; two to graduate students, two to undergraduates - Elizabeth E. Larsen Graduate Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility: full-time PROTEACH seniors or graduate students in early childhood, elementary, or special education.
Value: $2,500, four scholarships - Elizabeth and William F. Leonard Endowment Scholarship Fund
Eligibility: full-time science education graduate students, or who plan to teach mathematics.
Value: three awards of $2,000 - Augie Lutz Counselor Education Scholarship
Eligibility: graduate students focusing in counsellor education in the college.
Value: $500 - John. W. Martin and Annie Mae Martin Phillips Scholarship
Eligibility: full-time juniors, seniors and post-baccalaureate, or graduate students in the college; first preference to applicants who attended high-shchool in Alachua County, Florida; must demonstrate financial need.
Value: two $2,500 awards for undergraduates, three $3,000 awards for graduate students - Dr. Vincent McGuire Scholarship
Eligibility: first preference to undergraduates majoring in English with a minor in secondary education; second preference to graduate students in English education program in the College of Education; must demonstrate financial need.
Value: $500 - Stella Meissner Scholarship Fund
Eligibility: graduate students in special education in the college.
Value: $600 - Jessie Hamm Meyer Graduate Award
Eligibility: students in the college who are returning teachers, with first preference to career teachers returning for graduate studies who plan to study gifted education.
Value: $500 - Norman F. Nelson Fellowship Fund
Eligibility: undergraduate and graduate students in the college; must demonstrate financial need.
Value: $500 - William T. Phelps Scholarship Fund
Eligibility: full-time ProTeach graduate or undergraduate students in elementary or early childhood education.
Value: four $3,000 awards - J. Ed and Betty B. Price Scholarship Fund

Eligibility: counselor education students who plan to work in college-level student affairs. Value: $750 and recognition on a plaque; two scholarships - Robert B. Primack Social Foundations of Education Fellowship
Eligibility: students seeking a master's degree in Social Foundations of Education; based on scholastic merit of the student and written statement of purpose would be required when the student applies for the award.
Value: $500 - Harold Riker Scholarship Fund
Eligibility: students currently enrolled in counsellor education; completed application form (available from Patty, NRN 1215) submitted to Dr. Larry Loesch, NRN 1205, 3) two letters of recommendation from current UF Counselor Education faculty members.
Value: $1,000 - G. Ballard Simmons Memorial Scholarship Fund
Eligibility: students in the college who demonstrate scholastic and leadership ability, a potential for development of skill in teaching, an enthusiasm for teaching as a lifetime profession and financial need; must hold a bachelor's degree in education.
Value: $1,500 - Robert O. Stripling Scholarship
Eligibility: UF counselor education students currently enrolled in the the doctoral program; demonstrated intention to persue a career as a full-time counselor educator; submission of a fully completed application (available from Patty, 1215 NRN) including vita and one-page essay outlining eligibility criteria submitted to Dr. Larry Loesch, NRN 1205.
Value: $1,000 - Ralph D. Turlington Scholarship and
Fellowship Fund
Eligibility: students in the college.
Value: two $2,500 awards - Marjorie Schear Waggoner Fellowship
Eligibility: elementary education students; must be Florida residents, graduate of Florida high school, and enrolled in a full-time Masters program in elementary education.
Value: $500 - Dr. Hannelore Wass Endowed Scholarship
Eligibility: graduate students in the college.
Value: $500 - Dr. James L. Wattenbarger Fellowship
Eligibility: doctoral students specializing in study of community college and post secondary education; see College Web site for additional application materials required. Value: $1000

Alumni Scholarship
Eligibility: graduate students admitted to or enrolled full time in a graduate program in the college at UF.
Value: twp $2,500 awards - Barbara and Richard Anderson Scholarship
Eligibility: graduate students entering the college; first preference to graduates or employees of Lake City Community College; second preference to students from Baker, Columbia, Dixie, Gilchrist or Union counties; third preference to residents of Florida entering the college.
Value: $500 - Sara Lavinia de Keni Scholarship
Eligibility: available to graduate students enrolled in doctoral program in education that emphasizes collaborative partnerships with preK-20 schools and/or community groups; see College of Education Web site for additional required application materials.

Eligibility: undergraduate and graduate students who demonstrate leadership in his or her area of special education.
