General CLAS Scholarships

Every fall the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) awards approximately fifteen, one-semester dissertation fellowships to deserving graduate students whose projects are judged by the selection committee to be highly meritorious. Successful applicants receive a stipend and paid tuition during the following spring or summer semester. These fellowships are supported by several UF Foundation funds, including: the Michael Aschoff Dissertation Fellowship Award Fund, the Gerson Jewish Studies Fellowship, the Robin and Jean Gibson Fellowship Endowment, the Kenneth and Janet Keene Fellowship, the McGinty Endowment, the Charles Vincent and Heidi Cole McLaughlin Endowment Fund, the Hazen E. Nutter Scholarship Fund, the Albert C. and Vanda N. O'Neill, Jr., Liberal Arts and Sciences Excellence Fund, the Russell Corporation Endowed Scholarship Fund and the Threadgill Scholarship Program.

Eligibility: CLAS graduate students working on a dissertation.
Value: varies - Robin and Jean Gibson Fellowship Endowment
Eligibility: dissertation-level graduate students whose projects are judged by the college selection committee to be highly meritorious.
Value: varies - O. Ruth McQuown Scholarship
Eligibility: females with excellent academics enrolled full-time in humanities or social sciences, or with interdisciplinary majors in the two, or in women's studies.
Deadline: February each year; see office.
Value: $7,500 to continuing students; $10,000 to incoming students - Russell Corporation Endowed Scholarship Fund
Eligibility: graduates students working on their dissertations whose projects are judged to be highly meritorious.
