The scholarship offers a stipend up to $4,000 and academic scholarship up to $5,000 to students who are African American, Hispanic American, Asian Pacific Islander American, or American Indian/Alaskan Native. Applicants must be second-semester sophomores or juniors when they apply; must be majoring in ethnic studies, womens studies, labor studies, American studies, sociology, anthropology, history, political science, psychology, social work, economics, or public policy; and must have a 2.5 GPA. To be eligible, students must apply for financial aid, have financial need, be college sophomores or above, and be a graduate of a high school in Lake County, Florida, or currently attending or a graduate of Lake-Sumter Community College, Leesburg, Florida. To be eligible for renewal, students must have completed 12 credit hours per semester and maintain a 2.5 GPA. Deadline: applications must be received in the school's financial aid office no later than May 31.
- American Association of University Women Scholarships, AAUW Flagler County Branch, P. O. Box 354873, Palm Coast, FL 32135-4873. Scholarships fellowships and grants are available. To be eligible students must be female U.S. citizens who have been residents of Flagler County for at least one year. Applicants must be completing 60 credit hours as full-time students towards a B.S. or B.A. or a graduate degree and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Two letters of reference, a maximum 300-word essay, and proof of acceptance are also required. Deadline: varies.
- Ayn Rand Institute, P. O. Box 57044, Irvine, CA 92619-7044. www.aynrand.org. The Institute offers scholarships of from $50 to $10,000 for high school and college students. The contest is open to students worldwide, and entrants are required to write an essay on one of the topics provided on the Web site.

This program provides leadership training to outstanding Florida graduate and undergraduate students interested in public service. The program immerses students in key areas of government including the Executive Office of the Governor and the Governor's agencies to obtain first-hand, high-level on the job training as well as valuable experience and insight on government and how it works. Eligible candidates are enrolled as graduate students or upperclassmen at a Florida college or university. Deadline: April 28.

Applicants must be citizens/legal permanent residents or nationals of the U.S.; have a minimum 3.3 GPA; be a freshmen in the fall; demonstrate financial need; demonstrate leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular, or other activities, and meet Federal Pell Grant eligibility requirements which can only be determined by submission of a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Scholarships through the UF Institute of Hispanic-Latino Cultures are available each year to UF undergraduates and graduate students who have made a positive impact on the Hispanic-Latino Community. - National Security Agency Analysis Training Program, www.nsa.gov/ATP. Eligibility: undergraduate and graduate students in computer science, computer/ electrical engineering, foreign language, international relations/affairs/cultures/ trade/finance/economics, geography, anthropology, political science with international focus, and others on approval; 3.0 GPA, high level security clearance; willingness to work during the summer. Provides cost of education for up to six years of study, salaried employment during matriculation, and employment by NSA on graduation. Deadline: November 20.

A rent-free housing scholarship, valued at $5,000 annually, is offered to both male and female students in one of eight scholarship houses within walking distance to the UF campus.
