Aid Programs
UF Long-Term Loans
SFA awards these university and/or private, donor-sponsored, need-based loans, including the Student Aid for Education Loan, the John G. and Fannie F. Ruge Memorial Loan, the Meril S. Beers Loan, the Cora B. Pilling Loan, the Hart R. Stringfellow Loan, and the Arthur L. Wallace Loan. Award amounts vary from $500 to $3,500 annually, and interest rates range from 4% to 9%. UF may require a minimum repayment for institutional loans of $30 per month. These loans require co-signers.
To be eligible for UF Long-Term Loans, you must:
- be a U.S. citizen, national or permanent resident;
- show need on your FAFSA need analysis report;
- maintain satisfactory academic progress;
- not have defaulted on or owe a refund to any previous aid program; and
- be enrolled full-time.

To receive funds:
- See Receiving Your Financial Aid.
- Borrowers with UF long-term loans will receive a promissory note by mail from University Financial Services in S-108 Criser Hall. These promissory notes must be signed and returned to S-108 Criser before the loans can be disbursed.
- First time Federal Perkins Loan borrowers must complete an online Federal Perkins Master Promissory Note (MPN) to receive their loans. UFS will mail them instructions on how to sign the online MPN.
- Complete the federal Perkins Loan Confirmation process. Go to ISIS, choose "Financial Aid Services," then choose "Federal Perkins Loan Disclosure/ Confirmation. For more information, call UFS at (352) 392-0738.
