Simplifying the financial aid application process: the FAFSA Simplification Act is an initiative by the United States Department of Education to make applying for federal student aid easier for students.
The 2024–25 FAFSA form expands eligibility for federal student aid, including Pell Grants, and provides a streamlined user experience. 610,000 new students from low-income backgrounds will be eligible to receive Federal Pell Grants due to updates to student aid calculations. Plus, applicants will be able to skip as many as 26 questions, depending on their individual circumstances. Some applicants could answer as few as 18 questions, which could take less than 10 minutes.

The 2024-25 FAFSA opened with a soft launch in December 2023. During the soft launch, the FAFSA form will be available for short periods of time while Federal Student Aid monitors site performance and form functionality. If the form is unavailable when you or your family members try to access it, please try again later.

Check your https://one.uf.edu/ONE.UF portal for any outstanding “To Do” items and “Holds” to make sure you have submitted or completed all requirements necessary to receive your financial aid. You must complete all federal financial aid requirements before any federal funds can be disbursed to you.
Most aid programs require students to be enrolled at least half-time; however, due to limited funds, priority is given to full-time students.

The exception to the above enrollment requirements are students with following class/college classifications 1MD, 2MD, 3MD, 4MD, 1DN, 2DN, 3DN, 4DN, 1VM, 2VM, 3VM, 4VM.
If you are paid before the end of Drop/Add based on full-time enrollment and subsequently drop to less than full-time status, your “cost of attendance” will be adjusted to reflect your actual enrollment.
Adjusting your cost of attendance may require a reduction in the amount of financial aid awarded to you or repayment of aid already received. If this is necessary, you will be notified.
If all federal requirements to receive your aid (such as federal verification, entrance counseling, promissory notes, and other requests for information) have not been completed by the end of the term, your aid will be cancelled.

Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) is a program for people who work in public service in federal, state, tribal, or local government, or for a non-profit organization.
