If you live locally, you will receive faster service if you come to the office, at S-107 Criser Hall. Staff will try to return emergency long distance calls within 72 hours. March 15, 2007, is UF’s "On-Time" 2007-08 financial aid application deadline. Applicants applying at this time are considered for aid that remains available.

We encourage you to apply online using FAFSA on the Web. Applying online is usually faster, and the application has built-in edits that helps prevent application errors. This online application, with complete instructions, is available at: www.fafsa.ed.gov. A computerized Student Resource Center is available in our main lobby in S-107 Criser Hall to help students apply online.

Paper 2006-07 UF Gator Aid Application Guides and Free Applications for Federal Student Aid (FAFSAs) are available in our main lobby, at all Florida community college financial aid offices, and at high school guidance offices. FAFSAs can also be obtained directly from the federal government by calling the following toll-free number: 1-800-433-3243.

For more detailed information on the application process, be sure to read "How to Apply for Aid". Next, take advantage of "Financial Aid 101" and our new "Scholarship Finder" feature.

After applying for aid, use UF's ISIS system on the Web site at www.isis.ufl.edu to access information on your UF financial aid file, including awards and disbursements. SFA sends important financial aid business emails directly to your GatorLink email address. Check your email for these often. Make sure your GatorLink email address is correctly configured to receive UF business correspondence. To check your GatorLink configurations, go to: www.gatorlink.ufl.edu.

You are responsible for keeping your mailing addresses and phone numbers current in the UF Directory at all times. Important UF business correspondence is normally mailed to local mailing addresses. Most financial aid awards can be transacted using Direct Deposit, but some awards must be mailed in paper form, requiring a valid local address. To check that your addresses are correct in the UF Directory, go to my.ufl.edu and sign in with your GatorLink ID and password, choose "My Account," then "Update My Directory Profile." For assistance with address problems, contact the UF Computing Help Desk: (352) 392-HELP (392-4357).

If you have been awarded financial aid and qualify for a fee deferment, University Financial Services in S-108 Criser Hall automatically defers your fees until the deferred fee payment deadline. The spring deferred fee payment deadline is March 23, 2007. Students whose fall fees are deferred against their financial aid must pay them by 3:30 pm on March 23rd.

Financial aid is disbursed beginning the first two weeks of classes. Students generally receive their financial aid by direct deposit or mail from University Financial Services in S-108 Criser Hall. University Financial Services applies students’ financial aid to their university financial obligations (fees, tuition, and other money owed to the university) and issues the balance to the student. If students have signed up for direct deposit, their financial aid funds are deposited directly into their bank account. Students can sign up for DIRECT DEPOSIT on ISIS. Under "Financial Services," select "EFT Sign-Up."

Before you can receive Federal Direct Stafford or PLUS Loans, you must complete all loan disbursement requirements, including

    1. accept your loan(s) under "Awards and Disbursements,"
    2. complete a Master Promissory Note--if needed--by following prompts under "Aid Status,"and
    3. complete Direct Loan Entrance Counseling under "Financial Services" if you are a first-time borrower.

Federal Perkins Loan borrowers must complete a Disclosure/Confirmation before their loan can be disbursed. Under "Financial Aid" select Aid Status and Awards and Disbursements on ISIS and follow the prompts. First-time Perkins Loan borrowers are mailed Entrance Interview materials by University Financial Services.

Short-term Loans for emergency educational expenses are available to qualified students with a valid repayment source, for either the amount of in-state tuition or up to $1,000. Processing normally takes about 48 hours. University Financial Services mails short-term loan checks to students’ local addresses. The spring Short Term Loan Repayment deadline is April 2nd.
