What to Expect After Applying in 07-08
After you apply you will receive responses from SFA and other agencies.
The Federal Student Aid Report (SAR):
The federal processor will send you an SAR, paper or electronic, after receiving your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The SAR indicates your expected family contribution, which is used to determine your eligibility for financial aid. If you apply online and provide your email address, you will receive an online SAR as soon as 24 hours after your FAFSA is processed. When you receive the SAR, review it for accuracy. If you need to make corrections, follow the instructions on the paper SAR, or make corrections electronically at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
Verification:
Your application may be selected for “verification,” the federally required process of checking accuracy of information students supply on aid applications. See Federal Verification/Quality Assurance
Notification of Aid Award:
When UF has received your application information from the federal processor and you have been admitted to UF, if you are eligible for aid, SFA will award you an aid package based on your demonstrated need. You will receive an award notice stating the terms and conditions of aid programs awarded to you. Carefully read the brochure with your award letter. If you accept the award as offered, keep the award letter for your records. Otherwise, follow the instructions on the letter.
Federal Direct Loan Promissory Notes and Loan Confirmation:
If you are awarded a Stafford loan as part of your aid package do not already have a Master Promissory Note (MPN) on file (pdf document), when your financial aid file is complete, you will need to complete an online MPN. Promissory notes are also required for certain other loans. Federal Direct Stafford Loan borrowers must also confirm online that they want each term’s loan award. See “Student Loans” for information on completing MPNs and loan confirmation.
Federal Direct Loan Confirmation:
Stafford Loan borrowers must confirm that they want each term’s award before any funds can be released. Confirmation is done on UF’s ISIS system on the web. Go to www.isis.ufl.edu/ , under “Services” choose “Financial Services,” then “Financial Aid Direct Loan Confirmation.” You may also reduce or cancel your Stafford loan amount on this site. After your loan is processed, complete this requirement to ensure that your funds are disbursed at the beginning of the appropriate term.
Federal Direct Loan PLUS Loans:
If you or your parents wish to apply for a PLUS Loan, print and complete a Federal Direct PLUS Application from the Forms section of our Web site.
